Senior Crime Prevention University

Senior Crime Prevention University
created by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General

The holiday rush is over, and as you begin to relax and enjoy the new year, take time to learn how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe from fraud, scams, and con artists. The Pennridge Community Senior Center is presenting a session on Tuesday, January 24th at 12:30 PM facilitated by Dave Shallcross, a Community Liaison with the Norristown branch of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
Join us for this free, award-winning fraud prevention program for seniors, families, caregivers, and the public. The goal is to make you AWARE of common scams, to learn how to AVOID becoming a victim, and to know whom to ALERT when you are concerned about your safety. This lively hour-long program uses an interactive DVD showing “is-it-a-scam” scenarios, followed by a group discussion.
With 2.5 million residents over the age of 60 and the third highest percentage of senior citizens in the country, Pennsylvania is fertile ground for con artists, including home improvement, telemarketing, and foreign lottery and sweepstakes scams. Learn how to protect yourself from identity theft and safeguard your personal credit and financial information.
Come have lunch with us at 11:30 and stay for the program. The menu is pulled pork or chicken pasta salad, and the suggested donation for those 55 and over is only $2.00; for those under 55 the cost is still only $3.75. Please call the Center at 215-453-7027 by Friday, January 13th to register for lunch and/or the program.
For reservations, questions, or directions, call the Center at 215-453-7027 M-F 9AM-3PM, fax the Center at 215-453-7029, email the event’s contact person, Dale Roades (dale.roades@gmail.com) or visit the Center’s web site (www.pennridgecenter.org).
